Lenovo G575 43835MU Review

Lenovo G575 43835MU is a laptop for somebody that needs one and is on a budget. That’s good as this device is one of those laptops that costs less than $400 dollars (it’s actually around $350 at the time of this review), so you know you can’t expect much in the way of performance or strong hardware features. However, do not mistake performance with strength. Lenovo G575 43835MU is pretty strong as well, but it can’t be used for things such as Power Usage or Power Gaming.

If you’re a fan of AMD / ATI and found yourself on a budget, then Lenovo G575 43835MU is the solution for you. I can’t say I am very experienced with the AMD / ATI side as I’ve mostly worked with Intel. I used to own an AMD video card on my PC, but it disappointed me on more than one occasion. That is probably because I only used it for gaming. It is to nobody’s surprise that ATI is inferior in its gaming department to Nvidia, but superior in other departments. I say this because of the Nvidia PhysX that everyone implements in games. It tends to work best on Nvidia ( the real deal ), rather than on ATI which uses an emulator of sorts. Still, if it’s texel rate you’re looking for, nothing will beat ATI. Also, another great advantage would be the fact that ATI and AMD are much cheaper than Nividia and Intel.

Truth be told, cheap seems to be the main criteria which characterizes this laptop. For one that requires a lot of performance, I would definitely not recommend it. Lenovo G575 43835MU would be perfect for a Casual User, however, or perhaps a Student that doesn’t really use the PC for anything else other than for what he / she / it has to.

Before going out of your way to say that this device offers basic performance for such a price, do consider that it is also on sale. You’d be saving around $60 dollars on it if you were to purchase it NOW. If it’s power and performance you’re looking for, I strongly suggest upping your price range with close to a few hundred dollars.

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...

  • Student
As a student myself, I can honestly say that little time remains for any other pleasurable activity. If you still have a few hours in the evening and enough energy left in your body, I guess you can still do something. But the main idea is: you will barely have enough spare time to see a movie. Therefore, if you are a student on a budget and are looking to get a laptop that can handle all the school programs and the occasional movie, social network or web-browsing, Lenovo G575 43835MU would be an affordable answer for you. You can always find alternatives, but I highly doubt you will find something much better and cheaper than this.

  • Casual User
Perhaps the only user category for which this laptop is perfect is the Casual User. A casual user will most definitely benefit the most from this device as it offers just enough strength to fulfill all of the task a casual user does: web browsing, social networking, listening to music, watching movies and the occasional browser game (or something similar of graphic). Therefore, if you are a casual user that doesn't have a lot of money for a PC and doesn't want anything with any advanced bells and whistles, Lenovo G575 43835MU would be one of the best candidates.

  • Business User
A business user, as far as I can define it, is somebody that requires a bit of hardware space to store all of the necessary files, a laptop fit enough to handle a bit of multitasking and especially a device equipped with all sorts of advanced connectivity options to improve the data trafficking. Lenovo G575 43835MU has a bit of all of those things, but doesn't excel in neither. The storage space of this device is more than decent enough: around 320 GB Sata HDD. While that may be sufficient to most, I am sure some would find it unfitting. What may be good, however, is the fact that it has a pre-installed copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed on it, which means it won't take too long to set up.

  • Power User
The power user is somebody that uses the laptop mostly for powerful multitasking and powerful hardware demanding activities. I believe every component, aside from the video card, should be top notch for a power user to see it as even remotely useful. That is why many Power Users create their laptops on custom factory order. Lenovo G575 43835MU is a device that will not suit any Power User whatsoever. My professional advice: as a power user, avoid it. Look for something above 500 dollars if you want a decent laptop. Look for something above $750 if you want something good.

  • Gaming
To sum up the Gaming part, just read the Power Use part and add an strong video card to the mix. Needless to say, Lenovo G575 43835MU won't suit any Gamer at all. If you are a gamer and want something good, you should look for laptops of around 750 dollars. If you want something great as a gamer, nothing below 1000 dollars will cut it.

PROs Vs. CONs

There are very few pros to this laptop, especially if you compare it by today's standards. Perhaps its best point is the fact that it looks positively great and its design is quite useful. Most smooth plastic laptops are bad since that material catches a lot of finger prints and / or scratches easily. The Lenovo G575 43835MU however won't have that problem since it has that special surface on both sides: the back and the keyboard part. This laptop also has Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it. I believe Microsoft is also having a deal in which if you buy anything with Windows 7 on it you can easily upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for a mere 15 dollars.

I think there's no need to talk about all the rest of the things besides the Pre-Installed Software. You may wonder why I said that Pre-Installed software is bad. Well, it's because of the fact that I have very specific Software that I use and tend to consider the programs already provided as useless.

User Reviews: what others think?

Up until now, I am sorry to say that there are no customer reviews yet. However, if you purchase it now, you could be the first reviewer.

Upgrade Lenovo G575 43835MU RAM to 8GB DDR3 @ 1333 MHz

Summary

In conclusion Lenovo G575 43835MU is fairly good for a few categories. It's perfect for Casual Users and even a few students, but needless to say it is useless if what you desire is a lot of performance.
