Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356 Review

The Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356 is one of the better devices I’ve reviewed lately. However, with all the things that it has, I can’t help but think it is a bit overpriced. However, that can be in more than 98% due to the fact that I’m cheap and generally refrain from purchasing things (I know it’s bad, but at least I can admit my wrongs).

However, while at the first glance it may seem somewhat overpriced, know that this device packs a lot of potential in a relatively small package. This device is capable of becoming a really powerful beast of a PC. While it comes with a mere 4 GB of RAM, this laptop is capable of sustaining a great number of 16 GB. Now I’m not exactly sure whichever of the two options applies: either the laptop has 4 RAM slots, or 2 RAM slots (in which case you’d have to get rid of the 4 GB piece and buy two new 8 GB ones if you want to have it at its full potential).

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...

  • Student
From a student's perspective I can honestly say that not a lot of free time remains for many other activities. Between work and the erratic school schedule, you'll be lucky to find a few spare hours in the evening to watch a movie, but most likely you'll use them to catch up on your learning. The point being here, you don't really need a lot of performance as a student, but having some will never hurt. That is why I claim that the Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356 will do perfect for a student.

  • Casual User
As far as I see things, a casual user is somebody that doesn't require a whole lot of performance for their laptops. That is why I believe that a casual user can do with something much cheaper than this. Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356 may not be the best indication for a casual user as it offers a pretty large bit of performance that they may never use and comes with a lot of bells and whistles that most do not know what to do with.

  • Business User
The way I see it, a business user should value Mobility above all else. You know the typical model of businessman: suit, tie and briefcase containing all the necessary files? That is why the laptop should not occupy much space. Hence, I believe that an Ultrabook would be the perfect choice for a business user. However, if that is out of the question and you are willing to pay a bit more to get the desired performance, the Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356 is more than adequate enough to fit all of your wishes. It will do just nicely for any business task.

  • Power User
The way I see things, a power user should have the most powerful laptop / PC out there if he / she desires to get the most out of all of their experience. Therefore, I believe that the best answer to this minor predicament would be to custom-build your device and add each component yourself. However, provided you upgrade the RAM to the maximum amount, Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356 will fit just nicely for any power user that finds himself on a budget. As a bonus, it has pre-installed windows, so you won't have to spend much time setting it up.

  • Gaming
The definition of a gaming laptop is pretty much the same as the definition for a power user laptop, except the fact that you add a powerful video card to the equation as well. Therefore, I'd say that this laptop can handle a few games as well. Sure, you won't get absolute performance in your games, but will be able to run some of the older titles just fine. After all: oldies but goldies. Light gaming is possible on Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356.

PROs Vs. CONs

One of the good parts of this laptop is the fact that it has Microsoft Windows 8 on it. Now I personally haven't used Windows 8 as I do not really like computer OSes that looks just like the Mobile OS or newer versions of Symbian. However, some people may find it enjoyable. The other really good part of this laptop is the fact that you can turn it into a monster with a Second Gen Intel i3 processor and 16 GB of DDR3 RAM at 1333 MHz. Overall I consider the Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356 a pretty strong laptop.

Sure, the video card of this device is fairly strong (since it is a second generation Intel i series processor, the device has the very powerful HD 3000 video card on it), but the lack of a dedicated video card is still noted, as we have to take into consideration any and all aspects when considering whether or not to purchase a laptop.

User Reviews: what others think?

Unfortunately, as of yet there are no user reviews available. However, should you be the first to purchase it, you could be the first to review the Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356.

Upgrade Toshiba Satellite C855-S5356 to 12GB of RAM

Summary

In conclusion, this laptop is perfect for these following categories of people: Students, Casual Users and Business Users. However, should you know how to be moderate with your demands, you can make the most of it as a Power User and as a Gamer as well. Provided you understand the limitations of the hardware, I'd say you will have no trouble whatsoever with the functioning of this laptop.
